Indigenous Youth Career Development

Empower Youth With Confidence, Money Management and Essential Career Building Skills

46% of the Indigenous population in Canada are under the age of 28 years old. Many youth struggle with low self-esteem and are reaching working age when they start asking themselves that dreaded question, "What Am I Going to Do With My Life and Career?"

To prepare Indigenous Youth to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow, we created a "Confidence and Career Building Program" specifically tailored for young people between the ages of 16-28 years old.

Participants will learn career, confidence and business skills in a culturally rich and supportive environment that paves the road for their success, whether it is working within an organization that excites them or as an entrepreneur.

The Indigenous Youth Career Development Workshop taught by Loa Fridfinnson is based on a fun and interactive learning experience that includes knowledge building, hands-on practice, games, prizes, videos and shared life experiences.

  • Assess one's strengths and build a picture of a desired future

  • Learn to set and achieve goals through the S.M.A.R.T. goal setting method

  • Understand thinking styles and how to reprogram the brain for a successful mindset

  • Gain tools to overcome obstacles and refocus with inspired action

  • Acquire knowledge on business basics and etiquette

  • Enhance interview skills by selling to strengths and gaining rapport

  • Understand how to manage personal finances, budget, repair/build credit and save/invest for a healthy financial future

  • Learn how to access passions that could become a commercially profitable venture

  • Gain networking skills and build relationships that can open doors

  • Learn about various career choices that are in-demand locally

  • Access business resources specific to Indigenous career advancement

  • Gain knowledge on how to become an entrepreneur and start a business

This is an excellent opportunity for Indigenous Youth to learn essential confidence building, money management, and career exploration skills while also becoming more comfortable with presenting and public speaking.
